"swellhope"
by Barbara Lund
in progress
raging swell of resistance
pooling deep
springs spurting
in tiny bursts
of shrieking whistles
in skyscraper messsages
by baking bread to share
with protesters
& joy seeking aunts
or grieving uncles
that teacher,
certainly those monks.
resistance pooling
by praying
rocking babies, telling of inclusion, of care
sharing winter supplies.
singing, drums swelling, marching forth.
by recording
or making art
refusing to spend a dime with hatred
by telling:
reporting unjustifiable actions.
pooling quietly with touch
eyes clear with understanding
we do what we can
gifts of organizing
of mending grief.
voicemail onslaught
confronting peacefully
or
a talk in which pulse quickens
but resolve steadies.
by reading about what is happening
snapping proof in this time
sharing heart, mind, stories.
by learning goodness
unlearning lies,
by donating.
by changing minds
now known/always known
be curious, love more.
by cracking open to truth
even when uncomfortable
say it aloud:
this cannot continue!
our drops pool:
even if we are scared
tired
unsure
by sitting with
really noticing
making/honoring
neighbors
or being a steady stoop for love to rest under.
a drop
the trickles will travel, tiny flows,
upon boulders, around mountains, within eddies
gathered peace, a river of resisting
what you can do, please: you must!
you can rest,
then, add
your drop////////
water makes a way
WE are a living movement.
